Experimental Specialist

Description:

Airbus Canada Limited Partnership is seeking a Rig Design Experimental Specialist to join the A220 commercial aircraft Flight Test Center team in Mirabel, Quebec. This role focuses on the design, development, and improvement of Ground Rigs and Test Means for new and existing aircraft systems, supporting both ground and flight testing.

You will work collaboratively within a cross-functional team to define technical requirements, develop instrumentation, and ensure engineering solutions meet safety, customer, and program requirements. This is a hybrid role with occasional travel (<5% domestic and international) and potential on-call duties during weekends or holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Development: Define requirements and objectives for instrumentation and new Ground Test Rigs, including interfaces with other systems.

• Project Leadership: Lead and motivate engineering teams and suppliers to deliver engineering solutions on schedule and within budget.

• Technical Communication: Clearly communicate technical requirements to stakeholders and senior management.

• Interface Management: Manage multiple interfaces across systems, ensuring proper integration and functionality.

• Evaluation & Oversight: Analyze, challenge, and validate proposed technical solutions.

• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all engineering solutions comply with safety, airworthiness, and program standards.

• Collaboration: Work in a cross-functional and autonomous team environment, supporting knowledge sharing and collective learning.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent field.

• Experience: Minimum 10 years in aerospace systems design with proven experience in test bench development.

• Skills:

  • Experience in negotiating technical solutions and specifications.

  • Knowledge of airworthiness compliance processes.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills to manage technical teams.

• Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel (<5%).

• Other Requirements: Flexibility for on-call duties during weekends or holidays.
