Description:

The Orchestre Philharmonique du Québec (OPQ), a leading cultural institution in the Montérégie region, is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and strategically minded individual to serve as its Executive Director on an interim basis, with the potential for a permanent appointment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall strategic, administrative, and financial leadership of the organization, working closely with the Artistic Director to ensure the OPQ’s continued growth, visibility, and artistic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Governance:

    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and artistic leadership to design, implement, and monitor the organization’s strategic plan.

    • Ensure the effective functioning of the orchestra and the achievement of development goals.

  • Financial Management & Fundraising:

    • Develop and manage annual budgets while ensuring financial sustainability.

    • Prepare and submit funding applications to public and private funding bodies.

    • Build and maintain strong philanthropic and corporate partnerships.

  • Operations & Human Resources Management:

    • Supervise administrative staff and coordinate all operational activities.

    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and motivating workplace culture.

    • Manage union relations and ensure compliance with the current collective agreement.

  • Outreach & Marketing:

    • Increase OPQ’s visibility through a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy.

    • Partner with the Artistic Director to plan upcoming concert seasons.

    • Represent the orchestra to public, private, and community partners, strengthening its profile and impact.

Required Profile:

  • Proven experience in cultural management, preferably in the orchestral or classical music sector.

  • Strong financial and organizational management skills within a non-profit environment.

  • Inspirational leadership with the ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships.

  • Bilingual in French and English, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge and appreciation of classical music.
