The Association des Bannières, Chaînes et Indépendants de l’Industrie de l’Optique du Québec (ABCIOQ) is actively seeking a dynamic and self-directed Directeur(trice) général(e) to champion its mission: promoting and strengthening the economic vitality of Quebec’s optical industry. This part-time executive role is ideal for an experienced leader with a strategic vision, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder environments.
As the Executive Director, you will be entrusted with implementing the strategic plan, managing daily operations, representing the association across industry forums, and overseeing internal and external communications. Working closely with the Board of Directors, you will drive initiatives that support advocacy, growth, and excellence in the optical field across Quebec.
Strategic Leadership
Contribute to the creation, execution, and ongoing evaluation of the association’s strategic plan.
Engage stakeholders to gather insights, build consensus, and establish accountability mechanisms.
Periodically reassess priorities, KPIs, and objectives to maintain strategic alignment.
Governance & Compliance
Maintain a close working relationship with the Board of Directors.
Ensure governance documents, internal policies, and legal frameworks are up-to-date and compliant with applicable laws and professional codes.
Plan and organize Board meetings, annual assemblies, and other working sessions.
Representation & Partnerships
Build and nurture relationships with members, academic institutions, professional orders, suppliers, and other industry players.
Communications & Visibility
Execute approved communication plans, including drafting press releases, newsletters, reports, and official correspondence.
Manage and update the association’s website and social media presence (e.g., LinkedIn).
Administrative Operations
Prepare administrative documents, reports, and professional presentations for Board use.
Organize logistics and documentation for meetings and events.
Manage day-to-day administrative tasks and ensure accurate recordkeeping, including board minutes.
Financial Oversight
Monitor and supervise the association’s budget.
Collaborate with the Treasurer and external auditors as needed.
University degree in management, public administration, communications, law, public relations, or a related field.
Structured and methodical work ethic with excellent organizational skills.
Strong written communication and presentation abilities, especially in French.
Political acumen, diplomacy, and professional rigor.
Familiarity with digital tools (MS Office, WordPress, social media platforms).
Ability to work autonomously with a high degree of responsibility.
Previous leadership experience in a non-profit, association, or industry-related role.
Knowledge of the health or optical sector is considered an asset.
Independent contractor status, working approximately 2 days per week.
Primarily remote role, with some in-person engagements.
