Description:
CI Financial is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Vice President, Tax, Retirement & Estate Planning to join the CI Advisor Consulting’s Tax, Retirement and Estate Planning (TREP) team at CI Global Asset Management (CI GAM). This leadership role involves providing advanced tax, retirement, and estate planning support to financial advisors across Canada, with the objective of protecting and growing client wealth. The successful candidate will work closely with the CI GAM Sales team to deliver value-added services, develop strategic initiatives, create educational content, and ensure compliance with evolving tax and estate legislation.
Serve as a subject matter expert on tax, retirement, and estate planning concepts, providing education, guidance, and legislative updates to financial advisors.
Collaborate with the sales team to build new relationships and strengthen existing ones to drive sales of CI GAM products and services.
Deliver presentations, consultations, road shows, conferences, and seminars for advisors and investors.
Create and present educational materials, articles, and promotional content for larger audiences and key stakeholders.
Conduct ongoing research on industry trends, tax regulations, and financial planning strategies.
Participate in media opportunities to share expertise on relevant topics.
Provide training and support to sales teams to enhance their understanding of tax and estate planning concepts.
Develop and assess TREP-related materials and strategies to ensure alignment with company goals.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax and estate planning.
Expert-level knowledge of private client taxation, retirement, and estate planning.
Strongly preferred: CPA, CA, LL.B, LL.M, JD, or equivalent accounting/legal designation.
TEP designation and completion of CPA Canada Indepth Tax Program, M. Tax, or LL.M Tax strongly preferred.
CFP designation considered an asset.
Bilingual in French/English is an asset.
Strong research, analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Proficiency with tax and estate planning resources (Income Tax Act, CRA guides, legal and accounting databases).
Ability to simplify complex concepts for advisors and clients.
Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to identify new business opportunities.
Strong presentation and training skills for diverse audiences.
Travel required for road shows, conferences, and seminars (30–40%).
Primarily office-based with a requirement to work onsite 4 days per week when not travelling.
