Description:
We are seeking Engineering Students within our Canadian Buildings Division - Toronto District to work on some of the most exciting project currently underway specifically in the Greater Toronto Area. We are looking for students that are available for a minimum of 4 months starting in January 2023.
As an Engineering Student and depending on your assigned project, here’s how you will contribute to the team:
Responsibilities
- Project Coordination
- Coordinates drawings and work specific scope / trades.
- Conducts trade quote reviews – verify material quantities, verify hours, verify rates.
- Gets the chance to actively participate in project meetings.
- Conducts deficiency walks.
- Inputs and updates deficiency logs and Issuing warranties.
- Responsible for taking / coordinating progress photos and updating field drawings.
- Produces as-built drawings.
- Field Coordination
- Performs quantity takeoffs and coordinating sub-trade work.
- Verifies site conditions and coordinating with drawings.
- Supervises sub-trade work.
- Sets up / maintains record keeping.
- Layout site lines and grades using total station
- Scheduling:
- Has an opportunity to update project schedules and creating manual schedules.
- Creates and updates schedules using Suretrak software.
- Obtains scheduling information from sub-trades.
- A chance to create and maintain graphical scheduling using AutoCAD.
- Monitors Manpower productivity.
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
- Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
