Engineering Manager

eBay’s Shipping Organization builds innovative solutions for managing shipping logistics, fees, duties, cost management, and service recommendations on a global scale. The Engineering Manager will lead a team responsible for designing and delivering multi-tier distributed software systems that solve complex business problems within the global ecommerce shipping platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate and influence technical and business leaders to create innovative, simple software solutions.

• Define technical strategy, vision, and roadmap for the team.

• Lead complex projects across multiple quarters and teams.

• Drive product direction and participate in product initiatives.

• Set clear priorities, own outcomes, and multiply the effectiveness of the team.

• Coach, mentor, and support an inclusive culture that values diversity and individual talents.

• Establish safe spaces for challenging assumptions and fostering innovation.

• Estimate engineering efforts and plan rollouts for complex fee computation and charging systems.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of software design and development experience with strong foundations in computer science.

• 5+ years managing teams of varying sizes.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, REST/JSON web services.

• Proficient with Agile methodologies and high engineering standards.

• Experience driving large-scale projects across multiple teams.

• Skilled delegator and execution driver.

• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as Node.js and React.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
