Employment Coach

 

Description:

The YMCA of Hamilton|Burlington|Brantford is seeking a dedicated and results-driven Employment Coach to support job seekers in achieving their employment and educational goals. This role is based at YMCA Employment Services, Oakville, with a hybrid work arrangement. As part of the Employment Services team, you will work closely with individuals to assess their needs, create personalized Employment Action Plans, and provide ongoing coaching to help them overcome barriers to employment. You will be responsible for active case management, job development, and job placement support, ensuring clients achieve sustainable employment of at least 20 hours per week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments using various tools to evaluate client needs and developing tailored Employment Action Plans.

  • Managing a diverse caseload, including approximately 20% Ontario Works participants, and maintaining regular contact to monitor progress.

  • Actively developing employer partnerships to place clients in suitable roles, negotiating accommodations when required.

  • Providing continuous support to clients and employers during the job search, application, hiring, and onboarding process.

  • Facilitating monthly job readiness workshops to enhance employability skills.

  • Collaborating with local agencies to address barriers preventing employment success.

  • Monitoring job placements through site visits, calls, and electronic communication, and offering post-employment services to ensure retention.

  • Maintaining accurate records and data entry in the Information Management System (FedCap Cares), ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education (minimum 2 years) in Career & Employment Counselling, Human Resources, Social Service Work, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years of direct experience assisting clients with barriers to employment, including youth, persons with disabilities, and newcomers.

  • Strong recruitment, job development, and employer engagement skills with a proven ability to meet service targets.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with clients from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), Zoom, and other digital communication platforms.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines while managing change effectively.

  • Certification in Crisis Intervention, First Aid, Occupational Health and Safety, and workplace accommodation is an asset.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation.
