Description:

The YMCA of Hamilton|Burlington|Brantford Employment Services team is seeking a passionate and results-driven Employment Coach to support clients in overcoming employment barriers and achieving their career and educational goals. This role involves assessing client needs, developing tailored Employment Action Plans, and providing individualized coaching, case management, and job placement support. The position requires working closely with employers to match candidates with available job opportunities, negotiating workplace accommodations, and offering ongoing post-placement support to ensure long-term employment success.

The Employment Coach will maintain a caseload that includes clients receiving Ontario Works, facilitate monthly job readiness workshops, and liaise with local agencies to connect clients with additional resources. The role involves maintaining accurate and confidential records in the FedCap Cares Information Management System, conducting site visits, and ensuring that clients meet their employment targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess clients’ employment and educational needs using standardized assessment tools.

  • Develop individualized Employment Action Plans based on the Common Assessment Decision Model.

  • Conduct active case management and maintain accurate client records.

  • Refer qualified candidates to employers and support job placement efforts, including negotiation of accommodations.

  • Monitor client job performance and provide post-employment support.

  • Organize and deliver monthly job readiness workshops to improve client job skills and motivation.

  • Collaborate with employers, community organizations, and government agencies to enhance employment opportunities.

  • Provide referrals for clients to address barriers preventing successful employment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education in Career & Employment Counselling, Human Resources, Social Service Worker, or a related program.

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience with clients experiencing barriers to employment, including youth.

  • Proven ability in recruitment, job development, and achieving employment targets.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with diverse populations, including adults, newcomers, persons with disabilities, and youth.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) and virtual communication tools (Zoom, etc.).

  • Well-organized, adaptable, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Certifications in Crisis Intervention, First Aid, Occupational Health & Safety, and workplace accommodation are assets.

  • Valid driver’s license and personal transportation required.
