Emergency Medicine Physician

Description:

The Division of Emergency Medicine is looking to add additional emergency medicine physicians in anticipation of an upcoming service expansion within the department. Our physicians benefit from a well supported multidisciplinary team including collaborative, experienced emergency nursing teams, orthopaedic technicians, medical lab assistants, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physician navigators, geriatric emergency medicine nurses and crisis workers.

Osler has a vibrant community of emergency medicine clinicians with regular CME, POCUS expertise and support and QI rounds. While a physician may focus their practice around one Emergency Department site, corporate and Urgent Care Centre coverage is an expectation. Compensation is FFS as per the OHIP billing schedule.

Accountabilities
 

• Provide a balance of day, weekend, night and HOCC coverage with a minimum commitment of 8-10 shifts per month
• Participate in site and corporate rounds
• Participate in quality improvement activities
• Participate in one hospital committee
   

Qualifications
 

• Accredited medical degree (or equivalent)
• Certification in Emergency Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada or hold a fellowship in Emergency Medicine from the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
• License to practice and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Training and certification in POCUS an asset
• Fellowships in Paediatrics, POCUS or other specialty areas an asset
• Academic experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proven track record of attendance, punctuality and accountability
• Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population)

• Expertise in clinical teaching or clinical research preferred for those interested in education or research
