Skyworks Solutions, Inc., a global leader in high-performance analog semiconductors, is seeking an accomplished Principal RF/EM Design Engineer to join its Diversified Analog Solutions business unit. This is a senior technical leadership position focused on the design, modeling, and integration of complex RF multichip modules (MCMs) for advanced wireless communication systems. The role involves collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, contributing to all phases of product development, and providing expert-level technical guidance.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in electromagnetic theory, RF component integration, circuit simulation, and lab-based performance evaluation. They will act as the lead MCM designer, integrating LNAs, PAs, switches, and filters into high-performance modules, while also ensuring thermal efficiency, reliability, and compliance with wireless standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the lead designer for MCMs, integrating active and passive RF components including LNAs, PAs, switches, baluns, inductors, and filters.

• Troubleshoot and resolve EM modeling issues to ensure alignment between simulations and real-world measurements.

• Lead all phases of product development—definition, architecture, budgeting, transistor-level design, layout, lab debug, and production support.

• Conduct thermal analysis to optimize RF component performance and reliability.

• Perform and oversee lab evaluation of front-end modules, including characterization, tuning, and troubleshooting.

• Maintain detailed product documentation, including build instructions and technical reports.

• Guide and mentor junior engineers, providing technical expertise and support.

• Stay up to date on packaging technologies, PCB design, and wireless communication standards (3GPP 2G–6G, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

• BS in EM/RF engineering or related field with 12+ years of relevant experience; MS with 8+ years or PhD with 5+ years preferred.

• Expert in electromagnetic theory and MCM RF design.

• Proven experience with passive circuit design and integration.

• Proficiency with RF simulation tools (Agilent ADS, GoldenGate, SpectreRF) and EM tools (Momentum, EMX, HFSS).

• Hands-on lab experience with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF probe stations, noise figure analyzers, and load-pull tuners.

• Strong analytical skills, logical reasoning, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in thermal analysis and advanced packaging.

• Understanding of device and process technologies.

• Familiarity with module building blocks and wireless communication standards.

• Technical leadership experience in cross-functional engineering projects.
