Description:
Énergie NB Power, New Brunswick’s leading energy provider, is seeking Electrical Technicians to join its Meter Shop and Mesh & Meter Operations (MMO) teams in Marysville, Fredericton. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the province’s sustainable energy future by supporting the accurate measurement, reliability, and efficiency of NB Power’s smart grid systems.
The MMO division manages NB Power’s extensive fleet of over 350,000 revenue-grade residential, commercial, and industrial meters, as well as more than 400 mesh network devices. The Electrical Technicians will play a vital role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and optimal performance across these systems, contributing directly to the reliability of the provincial energy infrastructure.
General Duties:
Test, configure, and manage distribution and transmission meters for accurate energy measurement.
Conduct tests on meter test boards and analyzers for field deployment.
Validate accuracy of test consoles and verify measurement instruments for compliance.
Manage and review field inspection reports and address non-conformance issues.
Field Electrical Technician Duties:
Install, replace, and troubleshoot 3-phase transformer-rated metering sites.
Perform analyzer testing of meters and validate CT/PT configurations to ensure accurate billing.
Interpret and enforce technical metering drawings and schematics in field operations.
Smart Meters Technician Duties:
Test, validate, and deploy smart meters and network equipment firmware.
Conduct performance management, troubleshooting, and network diagnostics.
Submit Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) requests and manage issue tickets with vendors.
Support evaluation and implementation of new smart metering technologies and use cases.
Diploma in one of the following areas:
Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, or
Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Technician.
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Certification as a Meter Technician will be considered an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Applicants with foreign educational credentials must provide proof of Canadian equivalency recognized by a certified Canadian educational institution.
