Electrical Engineer

Innergex operates and manages a large portfolio of hydroelectric plants, wind farms, solar parks, and energy storage facilities across Canada, the United States, France, and Chile. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, supervising, and ensuring compliance in electrical designs, construction, and commissioning of renewable energy projects including wind, solar, and hydroelectric facilities. You will manage on-site implementation, ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards, support bids and contracts, provide engineering and commissioning assistance, and collaborate across disciplines to optimize project development and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review electrical designs for wind, solar, hydroelectric, and other renewable energy projects, and oversee on-site implementation.

• Supervise construction of interconnections, network improvements, and assess compliance with interconnection agreements.

• Review specifications and documentation for contracts and consultants, including electrical designs and studies.

• Support tender processes, including preparation of proposals, analysis, and technical contributions to key contracts.

• Approve drawings and submissions to ensure compliance with engineering standards, construction codes, and safety regulations.

• Provide on-site engineering and commissioning support, including inspection and electrical installation control.

• Develop operational procedures, joint operation orders, and necessary instructions for regulatory compliance.

• Assist the compliance team with technical interpretation of standards and external audits.

• Oversee and assess electrical compliance tests and studies during commissioning and operation.

• Support troubleshooting, equipment performance analysis, warranty claim investigations, and root cause analysis.

• Interface with technical disciplines, project management, construction, accounting, and finance teams throughout project phases.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is an asset.

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

• Experience in renewable energy or heavy industry preferred.

• Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical design for industrial applications, ideally in wind or solar projects.

• Bilingual proficiency (French and English, oral and written) required for collaboration across regions outside Quebec.
