Description:
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Supervisor, the Electrical Designer will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and supporting electrical equipment and electronics used in GPT’s product line. This includes sustaining existing products, new product development, and integrating custom systems.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
· Analyze customer specifications and requirements to design and implement remote power solutions for customers.
· Review customer inquiries and specifications for remote power systems. Work closely with customers to create solutions that leverage GPT’s products to meet customer business needs.
· Design, implement, test, and support electrical systems, remote power systems, and industrial control panels used in various industries and applications
· Select and qualify electrical components for use in remote power systems.
· Create and maintain electrical documents (schematics, wiring diagrams, SLD, etc).
· Provide budgetary costs for technical RFQs, electrical systems, and industrial control panels.
· Assist in developing manuals, test procedures, and customer documentation.
· Use Jira for task management and defect tracking.
· System design – work with mechanical and electrical team leads to define and implement a functional system.
· Develop production test specifications.
· Troubleshoot designs and products as needed.
· Provide estimates of development time and resource requirements. Work with the project manager and contribute to the development of a project plan.
Qualifications and Skills
· Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
· At least 3 years of experience in electrical system design or development of industrial products or electrical systems.
· Proficiency in electrical drafting and design using AutoCAD Electrical (SolidWorks knowledge is an asset)
· Understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) structures
· Proven ability to take ownership of a subsystem and to work independently.
· Demonstrated hands-on test and troubleshooting skills.
· Experience with Industrial Control Panels, including standards CSA C22.2 286 or UL 508A is an asset
· Experience with Agile tools such as Jira is an asset.
· Excellent project management, communication, and teamwork skills.
· Ability to operate independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
