Description:
The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario (CSPNE) is seeking an Intervenant(e) en adaptation scolaire to join the team at École publique Le Coeur du Nord in Kapuskasing, Ontario. The selected candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with individualized education programs (PEI), assisting in the development of social and behavioral skills, and providing personal care for students with complex and high-level needs.
This position contributes to creating an inclusive learning environment where every student’s unique abilities are supported through collaboration, professional expertise, and care.
Provide individualized and group support for students based on their Individualized Education Plans (PEI).
Assist students with personal care needs, including those requiring specialized or adaptive equipment.
Support students in developing essential social, behavioral, and academic skills.
Work closely with teachers, special education professionals, and multidisciplinary teams to implement personalized intervention plans.
Apply principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to promote the generalization of learned skills.
Implement health and safety plans for students and contribute to maintaining a safe learning environment.
Participate in outdoor activities and accompany students with special needs as required.
Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Use technology tools effectively to support learning and communication.
Be available to travel within the CSPNE region when necessary.
Post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as early childhood education, special education techniques, rehabilitation services, or social services.
Proven experience and knowledge in child development and special education practices.
Completed training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
Proficiency in French (both oral and written) at an advanced level is essential.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Ability to lift and assist students as needed for personal care.
Competence in using digital and assistive tools in educational contexts.
