Disability Claims Administrator

 

Description:

People Corporation is currently hiring a Bilingual Disability Claims Administrator to join the Coughlin team in Ottawa. This full-time, on-site position plays a crucial role in supporting the Disability Claims department, ensuring accurate and timely handling of disability claim processes, data management, and client interaction.

The successful candidate will be bilingual (French and English), possess strong administrative and organizational skills, and thrive in a high-paced, collaborative work environment. Coughlin & Associates Ltd. is a leading independent firm in group benefits and pension consulting, delivering services to a wide array of clients including public sector organizations, unions, and corporations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and manage attendance management, sick leave, and early intervention disability claims in internal databases

  • Ensure all claim documents are complete, accurate, signed, and submitted as required

  • Assist Disability Case Managers in managing Long-Term Disability (LTD) submissions and referrals

  • Respond to general inquiries from clients and members

  • Liaise with plan administrators, insurers, policyholders, consultants, and claimants

  • Maintain electronic documentation: scanning, faxing, data entry, and file management

  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports related to claims

  • Support Disability Management Committee meetings through scheduling, document preparation, and reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)

  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and communication abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills

  • Highly organized, able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively

  • High level of confidentiality, tact, and discretion

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary coursework in medical terminology is considered an asset

  • Minimum 2 years of office experience in a related administrative or claims handling role
