Disability Case Manager

 

Description:

Canada Life is hiring for the role of Disability Case Manager in Calgary, AB. This is a permanent full-time hybrid position offering a rewarding opportunity to manage disability claims and directly contribute to improving the well-being of Canadians.

In this dynamic and results-driven environment, you will be responsible for evaluating disability claims, coordinating medical assessments, implementing return-to-work programs, and working with various stakeholders to ensure each claim is handled effectively and compassionately. You’ll manage both short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), and Life Waiver claims using critical thinking, medical insight, and professional communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage assigned disability claims (STD, LTD, Life Waiver).

  • Assess medical information and compare against job duties to determine claim validity and duration.

  • Conduct phone and written investigations with applicants, employers, physicians, and legal representatives.

  • Communicate effectively with all parties to ensure clarity, transparency, and timely updates.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor return-to-work plans in collaboration with employers.

  • Oversee healthcare coordination and rehabilitation initiatives with a focus on employability.

  • Make sound decisions using analytical and case-based assessment skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education or experience in health & wellness, insurance (disability, life, or health), claims, or customer service.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in client-facing situations.

  • Strong planning, organizational, and time-management capabilities.

  • Decision-making and problem-solving aptitude with a solution-focused mindset.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using new systems and digital tools.

  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $56,000 – $83,900 per year
