Since 1962, Le P’tit Bonheur de sablon has been a cornerstone in the camp world, dedicated to helping youth from diverse backgrounds grow through sports and outdoor activities. Nestled in the Laurentians with six lakes and 1,700+ acres of forest, it offers unique outdoor experiences for children aged 6 to 17 during summer camps, school groups, and community organizations year-round.

The Camp Director is responsible for the overall operation, strategic objectives, and team leadership of the camp and associated services under the direction of Œuvre de sablon’s general management. This leadership role ensures the camp's mission is deployed effectively, guaranteeing quality, safety, and the positive development of campers and staff.


Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership:

  • Deploy the camp’s mission and vision in collaboration with general management

  • Participate in strategic planning and ensure achievement of action plan goals

  • Represent the camp to partners and the community

Operations Management:

  • Oversee all camp operations including summer programs, school groups, rentals, and events

  • Ensure quality, safety, and compliance of all activities

  • Manage material resources and infrastructure upkeep

Human Resources Management:

  • Recruit, manage, and motivate coordination and management teams

  • Support hiring, training, and supervision of permanent and seasonal staff

  • Conduct staff evaluations and foster a positive work environment with clear communication

  • Promote a healthy and safe workplace climate

Financial Management:

  • Develop the annual budget and ensure budgetary controls

  • Allocate budgets per project and oversee financial management across departments

  • Manage multi-year capital budgets and ensure long-term financial sustainability

Development and Promotion:

  • Collaborate on service offerings and programming development with program direction

  • Support marketing and client development efforts alongside the marketing team


Requirements:

  • Relevant university degree (management, leisure, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum 6 years in leadership and team management, preferably in camps, nonprofits, youth services, or outdoor environments

  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit

  • Ability to manage diverse teams and multiple projects simultaneously

  • Knowledge of camp operations, infrastructure, nonprofit management, and youth development

  • Fluent in French (spoken and written); English is an asset

  • Willingness to work onsite year-round and availability for occasional off-hours commitments

  • Starting salary from $95,000 CAD per year (depending on experience)
