Directive Consulting, a leading B2B performance marketing agency, is seeking a Director of Paid Media – Startups (Remote Canada) to spearhead demand generation efforts for startup and SMB clients. This role is internally listed as Director of Demand Generation and involves managing a fast-paced portfolio with an emphasis on Paid Media, which accounts for 90% of the services provided, alongside SEO and CRO.
As the strategic and operational head of the Startups Division, you will lead a cross-functional team of 20+ digital marketers, including Associate Directors and Demand Generation Managers, to deliver measurable results and exceed client expectations. Reporting directly to the COO, you will play a key role in shaping the agency’s strategic direction, ensuring consistent delivery of performance-driven marketing, and cultivating a high-performance culture.
Lead, coach, and inspire a team of ~20 professionals across Paid Media, SEO, and CRO, ensuring excellence in both strategy and execution.
Develop Associate Directors into strong client leaders and people managers capable of growing accounts and teams.
Drive key performance metrics including client retention, campaign success, Net Revenue Retention (NRR), and team engagement.
Act as the executive sponsor for top-tier accounts, ensuring transparency, alignment, and confidence during escalations and renewals.
Oversee strategic planning for the Startups Division, including forecasting, hiring, budgeting, and margin management.
Collaborate with Sales and other service lines to support new business development, upsells, and cross-sells.
Foster a culture of clarity, accountability, and excellence across the team while maintaining strong relationships with executive-level clients.
7–10+ years of proven leadership in client-facing performance marketing within an agency setting.
Extensive B2B and SaaS marketing expertise with experience overseeing 30+ accounts simultaneously.
Demonstrated success in coaching and developing managers and senior individual contributors.
Strong working knowledge of Paid Media platforms (Google Ads, LinkedIn, review sites like G2/Capterra), with familiarity in SEO and CRO.
Strong executive presence and ability to navigate C-level conversations with confidence.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to bring clarity to ambiguity and motivate teams under pressure.
Strong background in KPI tracking, decision-making, and performance optimization.
Bonus: Experience with RevOps, lifecycle metrics (e.g., LTV:CAC), and onboarding frameworks.
Bonus: Speaking, publishing, or mentoring experience in the B2B/SaaS marketing space.
