Position Overview:
The Interim Director of Finance will take the helm of the organization’s finance department during a critical period. You will be responsible for steering the organization through its external audit, managing ongoing budgeting and compliance activities, and leading a dedicated finance and payroll team. This leadership role will directly support the execution of strategic goals, facilitate sound financial decision-making, and ensure regulatory and funder accountability.

You will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to maintain financial health, streamline processes, and ensure fiscal responsibility across all initiatives. This role is ideal for a seasoned finance leader who thrives in mission-driven environments and has a passion for making a positive difference in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

📊 Financial Reporting & Audit Oversight

• Manage all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting

• Lead the external audit process from start to completion

• Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial statements and compliance documentation

📅 Budgeting & Forecasting

• Drive organization-wide budgeting and forecasting efforts

• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategic financial plans

• Monitor budget adherence and provide timely financial analysis

💰 Payroll & Compliance

• Supervise payroll operations and ensure accuracy and timeliness

• Oversee grant reporting and maintain strict compliance with funder requirements

• Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial regulations, and reporting standards

🤝 Team Leadership & Strategic Support

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing finance and payroll team

• Act as a key advisor to leadership on financial strategies and risk mitigation

• Support fundraising efforts and long-term financial planning for organizational growth

🔍 Process Optimization & Risk Management

• Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and reporting systems

• Manage organizational financial risk and improve internal control systems

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

Key Qualifications:

• CPA designation is mandatory

• At least 5 years of leadership experience in finance or accounting roles

• Expertise in financial audits, budget planning, payroll, and compliance

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor cross-functional teams

• Deep understanding of public sector or nonprofit financial structures (preferred)
