Description:
Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS), a progressive leader in Indigenous health and family services in British Columbia, is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Child Safety to join their team in Burns Lake, BC. CSFS emphasizes a culturally grounded approach to service delivery, offering a unique opportunity to practice differently while being immersed in the rich traditions and values of the Carrier Sekani Nations.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for fostering high-level partnerships, leading strategic planning initiatives, and ensuring the advancement of priorities aligned with the Carrier Sekani Child and Family Act. You will manage executive-level committees, collaborate with senior leadership to monitor progress on key initiatives, and report on significant milestones. Furthermore, you’ll oversee performance expectations for staff and support the development of a culturally rooted resource database.
An advanced understanding of child and family service regulations—including the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA), Federal Child Welfare Act, and Indigenous child welfare practices—is crucial for success in this role. You’ll play a central part in embedding cultural responsiveness and community engagement into every facet of service delivery.
What You Will Bring to the Role:
A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, or a related field
Eligibility for C6 delegation
At least 3 years of experience in Child and Family Services
Preferred experience working with Indigenous communities
A combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered

Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time position (35 hours/week) offers a target hourly wage of CA$66.07 to CA$86.89, depending on your experience and skills. CSFS also offers:
