Information management is the way in which an organization plans, identifies, captures, manages, preserves and disposes of its information across all formats including physical and digital.

The Director of the Information Management (IM) Programs unit is responsible for the leadership and strategic oversight of the Government of Alberta Information Management Program.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Data, Information and Records Services, in the Data Information and Privacy Services Division, the incumbent will be responsible to:

  • Facilitate business partnerships and collaborate with a significant stakeholder network to enhance and modernize service delivery channels.
  • Lead high performing teams through the transformation and modernization of government IM services.
  • Provide expert IM advice and counsel to Ministry partners; ensuring that information in their custody and/or control is effectively managed and in accordance with legislation and policy instruments.
  • Liaise with Ministry partners to ensure IM service delivery and operational issues are identified and resolved through consultation, information, training, on-site visits and other supports.
  • Provide oversight of active physical records and file rooms in accordance with legislation, policies and standards.
  • Balance information management priorities across teams to ensure the effective delivery of services and in alignment to broader strategic priorities.
  • Lead the Content Management Initiative (CMI), which will transform the way records are managed across the government.
