Director, Business Development

 

Description:

In collaboration with internal College partners, the Director will develop an annual Business
Development plan that aligns with the Red River College Polytechnic strategic plan, ensures
financial sustainability, and focuses on provision of quality solutions for clients through effective
business practices, growth, flexibility, innovation, and resource acquisition.

R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S

  • Post-Secondary Education in Business or a combination of equivalent education and

experience in the domain of Business including but not limited to Project Management, Change
Management, Innovation Engineering

  • Demonstrated experience in consulting, corporate strategy, or strategy management within a

high-growth organization

  • Experience supervising and directing employees in a unionized environment including,

evaluating employee performance, discipline and discharge, authorization of employee leaves
and overtime, and exercising judgement

  • Experience leading and facilitating annual strategic and financial budget planning process with

an emphasis on generating revenue to support operations

  • Experience developing and implementing customized training programs tailored to the needs of

industry, non-profit, government and community partners with a student-centered approach

  • Significant experience managing all financial matters including budget, variance analysis and

cost-benefit analysis

  • Excellent business and financial management skills combined with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities, take initiative and multi-task in a fast-paced

environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop partnerships with industry, government and

educational institutions with an emphasis on promotion of community relationships

  • Proven ability to monitor industry trends and proactively conceive and design profitable

solutions to respond to the needs of industry and meet the financial targets of the department

  • Ability to represent the College and develop positive relationships with diverse stakeholders,

internally and externally

  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of marketing principles
  • Exceptional influencing and negotiating skills
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
