BlackRock, one of the world’s largest and most influential asset management firms with over $10 trillion in AUM globally, is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join its Canadian Institutional Client team as a Director, Institutional – Canada. This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage and grow institutional client relationships across Canada, contributing to the continued expansion of BlackRock’s presence in the Canadian market, where the firm currently manages more than $400 billion on behalf of clients.
The Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-level relationships with CIOs, portfolio managers, and institutional decision-makers across a wide range of clients including public and corporate pension plans, universities, non-profits, family offices, and healthcare systems. The role involves driving new revenue opportunities, cross-selling within the existing client base, and leading mandate generation across BlackRock’s diverse product offerings, which include fixed income, equities, alternatives, private markets, multi-asset solutions, cash management, and risk systems.
Key responsibilities include managing client relationships, executing client engagement strategies, leading client meetings, articulating market and product insights to sophisticated investors, and ensuring top-tier service delivery in collaboration with BlackRock’s Client Experience and product teams. The role also includes mentoring junior professionals and contributing to the overall growth and development of the Canadian Institutional Client team.
This position requires a deep understanding of the asset management landscape, institutional sales processes, and a broad knowledge of both traditional and alternative investment strategies. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven success in business development, superior communication and presentation skills, and the ability to operate effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team-driven environment. A graduate degree or CFA designation is preferred, along with relevant regulatory licenses.
