Devops Engineer

Description:

VLink, a fast-growing digital technology services and consulting company, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to help harmonize development practices and improve the developer experience. The role will focus on integrating technology stacks and implementing common DevOps practices, including the migration of code and builds, adoption of CI tools, and enhancing developer tools and processes.

Core Responsibilities:

• Move code from on-premises Bitbucket to GitHub mono-repos

• Migrate Java build tools from Maven to Gradle

• Harmonize JavaScript build processes

• Adopt a common artifact repository (JFrog Artifactory)

• Implement a common CI toolchain based on GitHub Actions

• Gather metrics to ensure the efficacy of the efforts

• Enhance Developer Experience through tools like Backstage

• Optimize code hygiene with Moderne/Open Rewrite

• Enable global teams to adopt new toolchains

• Work in an Agile environment, participating in ceremonies

• Collaborate with global teams, including developers, analysts, QA, and management

Skills Required:

• 3-5 years of experience in Java (or JavaScript) development

• 3-5 years of experience working on Linux-based systems

• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and ksh

• Experience with build systems like Gradle/Maven or NPM

• Proficiency with Git, Bitbucket, GitHub

• Experience with CI tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

• Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of SDLC processes

• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes

• Ability to gather and analyze metrics
