Development Manager

 

Description:

KFC Canada is seeking a Development Manager to lead the development-related aspects of a portfolio of franchisees. This role plays a key role in partnering with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to define and execute the strategic unit growth agenda, delivering the annual Net New Unit Growth Target for KFC Canada. The Development Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of franchise development, including new builds, renovation schedules, and asset actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all development aspects for a portfolio of franchisees, including development agreements, site registration, openings, and renovations.

  • Manage asset action timelines, franchise agreement renewals, and transfers.

  • Liaise with the Legal team on managing the back-end process of all asset actions (e.g., IFA contracts, incentive reports, fees).

  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to support meetings and reporting related to Transaction Growth Meetings (TGM), Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and Market Growth Plan (MGP).

  • Collaborate with Operations and Development functions to manage the Growth Ready Strategy for the Franchised network.

  • Find and implement improvements to existing development systems and processes.

  • Support the development team and Restaurant Support Centre (RSC) in executing cross-functional strategic objectives.

  • Execute against strategic objectives as defined in the annual Strategy On A Page (SOAP).

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certifications: 4-year post-graduate degree in business, finance, or a related field. Preferred: MBA

  • 3 to 5 years of overall business experience, with a growth mindset and strong drive for continuous improvement.

  • Familiarity with the Canadian market or a willingness to learn deeply.

  • Proven experience in dealing with external stakeholders (e.g., franchisees, franchisors, brokers, banks).

  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and strategic skills.

  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and provide business solutions.

  • Strong strategic vision, commercial acumen, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

  • Prior experience in consulting, investment banking, QSR, or retail development is an asset.

  • Prior experience working with global stakeholders in a matrixed environment is an asset.
