Design Specialist

Description:

Design Within Reach is seeking a design-savvy sales professional to join its Toronto team as a Design Specialist. This role blends interior design expertise with consultative sales, offering the chance to work with iconic modern brands such as Herman Miller, Knoll, and legendary designers like Charles and Ray Eames. The position is central to building meaningful client relationships and contributing to the store’s overall performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver personalized design consultations and tailored solutions for clients.

• Build long-term relationships with clients, trade professionals, and the local design community.

• Meet and exceed sales goals and performance metrics (KPIs).

• Guide clients through product selection, space planning, and styling.

• Manage the complete client lifecycle using CRM tools and outreach strategies.

• Maintain high visual merchandising standards across the store.

• Stay up-to-date on design trends, product knowledge, and industry developments.

• Conduct in-home consultations and attend off-site meetings with trade clients.

Qualifications:

• Passion for modern design and strong design sensibility.

• Experience in retail sales, design consulting, or customer success (preferred).

• Background in interior design, architecture, or related field (preferred).

• Strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design tools (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD, or equivalent).

• Ability to lift 20+ lbs and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Additional Requirements:

• Full-time role; weekend and holiday availability required.

• Store operates daily, Sunday through Saturday.
