Role Overview:

As an AV Design Engineer (Broadcast/Media), you will be a key technical authority for Media & Entertainment (M&E) projects. Working remotely, you will conceptualize, design, and support complex broadcast and AV systems from presales through commissioning. This position involves collaboration with clients, sales teams, and technical operations, ensuring optimal design, integration, and delivery of high-end AV and broadcast solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conceptualize broadcast and AV systems, determining system requirements and specifications.

  • Develop budgets, timelines, and technical deliverables while managing client expectations.

  • Create and oversee Bill of Materials (BOM), block diagrams, wiring schematics, and rack elevations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, contractors, and project managers.

  • Provide technical expertise during presales, design, integration, testing, and commissioning phases.

  • Generate functional system descriptions, detailed design documents, and as-built documentation.

  • Research and recommend emerging technologies to optimize solutions.

  • Conduct up to 30% travel for site visits, testing, and commissioning as required.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED (Associate/Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of experience in designing M&E technical systems.

  • Expertise in AV equipment integration and broadcast systems.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office 365; experience with Smartsheet, LucidChart, and Google Suite a plus.

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), QoS, VLANs, DNS, and multicast protocols (PIM, IGMP).

  • Familiarity with SMPTE 2110, AES-67, Dante, Ravenna, and streaming media network protocols is a plus.

  • Experience in architectural/construction drawings and understanding of construction workflows.

  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and ability to manage multiple complex projects.
