Deputy General Director

 

Description:

The Conseil régional de l’environnement et du développement durable de l’Outaouais (CREDDO), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental protection and sustainable development in the Outaouais region, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Deputy General Director (Directeur/Directrice Général(e) Adjoint(e)). Reporting directly to the General Director, this leadership position is instrumental in ensuring the strength, efficiency, and sustainability of the organization.

The Deputy General Director will oversee human resources management, financial administration, and organizational processes while supporting project coordinators and strengthening operational systems. This role requires a proactive leader who thrives in collaborative environments, demonstrates sound judgment, and aligns with CREDDO’s core values of collaboration, benevolence, and boldness.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Management

  • Supervise recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of employees.

  • Implement HR policies, including evaluations, training, and maintaining a positive work environment.

  • Support managers and project coordinators in team leadership and performance management.

Financial Management

  • Oversee budget preparation and monitoring of both project-specific and overall organizational finances.

  • Ensure compliance with funders’ requirements and produce accurate financial reports.

  • Collaborate with the accounts manager and external accountants for proper reporting and accountability.

Support for Coordinators

  • Assist coordinators with administrative and financial project management.

  • Develop tools and procedures to streamline workflows and reduce bottlenecks.

  • Ensure availability of resources and materials needed for office operations.

  • Identify and strengthen partnerships with service providers and suppliers.

Governance and Organizational Management

  • Actively participate in the management committee and strategic planning.

  • Act as a liaison between the General Director, coordinators, and the Board of Directors.

  • Lead the implementation of a new digital management system or ERP.

  • Replace the General Director when absent, ensuring leadership continuity.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HR management and/or financial administration.

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit organizations (OBNL) and funding requirements from public and private sources.

  • University degree in management, administration, finance, human resources, or a related field.

  • Mastery of management tools including Excel, ERP systems, and financial software.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
