Description:
Imperial Oil is hiring a Depot Operator for its Sept-Îles, Québec location, with a targeted start date in Q2 2025. The role is part of the Product Solutions Department, which has a legacy of over 140 years in Canada. As a Depot Operator, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of product receipt, storage, and distribution at the fuel depot. You will ensure that all operations are performed in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner, while complying with corporate procedures and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain measurement systems such as meters, gauges, and injectors according to company procedures.
Comply with health, safety, and regulatory laws; actively participate in safety meetings and initiatives.
Conduct depot operations with a strong focus on safety and adherence to MPD (Measurement, Product, and Delivery) procedures and safety management systems.
Coordinate with other departments for operational and maintenance activities.
Act as a member of the depot’s emergency response team.
Assist the Product Quality and Supply teams in maintaining product quality and resolving supply issues.
Manage contractors and truck drivers regarding safety protocols, orientation, and compliance requirements.
Serve as a liaison between the control room, depot personnel, and third-party workers.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to depot activities.
Support and lead mechanical and operational tasks, including equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
Supervise and train junior staff and contractors; lead work permit issuance processes.
Handle calibration activities for meters and ensure documentation is properly completed.
Oversee and coordinate railway, marine, road, and fuel storage yard activities.
Maintain compliance with depot safety rules and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
Perform daily operations within frameworks such as Operational Integrity, Product Quality, Control Integrity, and Regulatory Compliance.
Contribute to project coordination and assist with depot maintenance initiatives.
Support inspections, assessments, and the implementation of site improvement plans.
Participate actively in scheduled meetings and continuous improvement efforts.
Candidate Profile:
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or college degree.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
Fluent in French; English is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or certification in mechanics (e.g., Fixed Equipment Mechanic - MMF4).
Deep understanding of measurement practices and quality control systems.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word).
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Leadership skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of electrical systems, Multiload, and TMS systems.
Previous training in product quality control, gauging, storage, and pumping systems.
