Dealer School

Description:

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa is offering an exciting opportunity to learn a new skill and launch a career in the gaming industry through Dealer School, beginning on Monday, October 27th. This free training program will teach participants how to deal Blackjack and other table games, including Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Mississippi Stud, High Card Flush, and Free Bet Blackjack.

Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will be offered employment with Hard Rock Ottawa, contingent upon obtaining a gaming license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). New employees will also receive a $1000 signing bonus in recognition of their successful training and attendance.

Training Details:

• Duration: 6 consecutive weeks (full-time, 40 hours per week).

• Focus: Table game procedures, dealing techniques, and customer service skills.

• Cost: Free for all enrolled students.

Responsibilities & Requirements During Dealer School:

• Pass a math assessment demonstrating strong mental calculation ability.

• Complete a short interview process before enrollment.

• Maintain excellent attendance throughout training.

• Pass a written exam and live table audition for all assigned games.

Post-Training Employment Requirements:

• Demonstrate exceptional guest service skills, professionalism, and calm demeanor.

• Uphold ethical standards and integrity at all times.

• Obtain Category 2 Gaming Assistant registration with AGCO.

• Showcase excellent communication skills in English (French is considered an asset).

Skills & Physical Requirements:

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• Excellent customer service skills to maximize guest satisfaction and encourage repeat play.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment with constant public interaction.

• Physical capability to stand for long periods, handle gaming equipment, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

• Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Compensation & Benefits (upon graduation):

• Average $30–$35 per hour (including gratuities).
