Data Steward Specialist

Description:

Brainhunter is seeking a Data Steward Specialist to join the Enterprise Data Governance Team. This role will be pivotal in advancing the data strategy and maintaining Data Governance practices, ensuring the trust and protection of data assets. The successful candidate will help the business achieve its data roadmaps, collaborate with teams, and manage sensitive data across various business domains.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be the face of the business domain, understanding and assisting with data governance mandates

• Support the development and enhancement of data governance standards, processes, and practices

• Collaborate with technology and business users to ensure data is accurately represented in the Data Inventory

• Analyze and interpret data discovery results, identifying issues related to governance, privacy, and security

• Create and manage a data catalog to organize sensitive data elements (using tools like MS Purview, Collibra)

• Support data privacy regulations, handle data retention and remediation, and ensure data is properly secured

• Work with teams to define and operationalize requirements for business units on the data platform

• Support strategic decisions and provide insights into data governance milestones and issues

What You Will Bring:

• 1-4 years of experience in data governance and AI, with a focus on unstructured data

• Expertise in Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Excel)

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Agile mindset with a customer-oriented approach

• Passion for learning and working in a fast-paced environment

• Financial services or insurance experience is an asset

• Protected-B clearance (obtained from the RCMP)

• Data Management or Data Governance certification (e.g., DGSP or CDMP) is a plus

• Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Microsoft Purview)

Specific Tools/Skillset:

• Understanding of AI and data governance principles

• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities

• Experience with metadata analysis, SQL coding, and using Databricks

• Familiarity with Collibra and other data governance toolsets

• Ability to translate technical details into understandable terms for business users

• Monitoring and testing data governance functionalities
