Data Solution Architect

Description:

TransLink, the regional transportation authority for Metro Vancouver, is seeking an experienced Data Solution Architect for a full-time hybrid position based in Vancouver, BC. As part of a forward-thinking team, this role is critical in designing and maintaining data warehouse, business intelligence, and analytics (DW/BI&A) solutions that align with TransLink’s enterprise IT and data strategies.

The ideal candidate will play a leading role in guiding the organization through digital transformation and analytics modernization, particularly through participation in the HR Digital Transformation Program (HRDT), which will modernize HRMS platforms and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level DW/BI&A solutions tailored to organizational goals and business needs.

• Ensure solutions align with Enterprise Architecture and comply with standards, governance, and policies.

• Develop scalable enterprise data architectures using modern tools and best practices, balancing short- and long-term priorities.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to define data management strategies and lead architecture reviews.

• Provide strategic technical leadership for platform modernization, including evaluating buy/build decisions and managing technical debt.

• Stay up to date on emerging technologies and lead the transition to modern architectures.

• Lead enterprise data architecture standardization and mentor development/support teams on architecture principles.

Candidate Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Experience:

• At least 7 years in a Data Solution Architect role, ideally in a client-facing IT services capacity.

• Deep expertise with Microsoft DW/BI tech stacks (e.g., SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory).

• Strong knowledge of data architecture methodologies including Kimball.

• Experience in data modeling tools such as Erwin and Visio.

• Agile implementation experience and Azure certification are considered assets.

Skills:

• Advanced understanding of BI/DW architecture and modern cloud-based data solutions.

• Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage stakeholder expectations, mentor teams, and align data strategies with business goals.

Additional Details:

• Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week

• Work Designation: Hybrid (remote and on-site flexibility within British Columbia)

• Compensation: Annual salary between CAD 107200 – 160800 depending on qualifications and experience. Includes a comprehensive benefits package: extended health, dental, transit pass, and Public Service Pension Plan.
