Primary Responsibilities:
Essential responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing new and maintaining existing procedures in order to meet company requirements.
- Conducting research and providing information/answers to internal/external parties in regard to SVC’s data services, products, procedures, policies and documentation.
- Assisting in the research and resolution of department related problems.
- Creating and testing of change requests as required.
- Actively participating in regular team status meetings to ensure information is effectively and appropriately shared.
- Acting as a resource in areas of expertise for others in the team.
- Assisting team members as required to ensure daily operational requirements are met.
- Keeping informed of internal products, processes and initiatives.
- Ensuring department related documentation and training materials are kept current.
- Participating in the on-call rotation as requested by Team Leader or Manager.
- Developing and assisting in strategies for continued self and team development.
Additional Functions
- Ensuring complete coverage of data operations during staff holidays or absences.
- Monitoring, analyzing and maintaining the quality and accuracy of data in SVC databases.
- Working closely with Sales and Client Support for new client implementations.
- Assisting in improving and developing SVC products and services.
- Working closely with required SVC and FMC departments to achieve common goal of customer satisfaction by providing superior support and service.
- Continuous interaction with data suppliers to stay informed of products and services and to ensure that data services SVC subscribes to are timely, accurate and reliable services.
- Ensuring the Client Support group is made aware of any SVC related activities or changes in data services that may affect clients.
Position Requirements:
- College diploma in Business, Math, Economics, or Finance-related field, other financial service qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Securities data and/or investment-related experience is an asset as well as the completion of the Canadian Securities Course.
- A solid understanding of financial instruments and assets classes including fixed income, equities, corporate actions, reference data and security identifiers.
- Proficient in MS Office (with accent on Excel).
- Excellent knowledge of SQL, Mongo query tools and Jira are an asset.
Organizational Relationships:
- Data Analyst reports to the Team Leader, who in turn reports to the Department Manager.
- Data Analyst has a support responsibility to all functional Directors and Managers within the organization.
- Data Analyst will have paralleled responsibility and accountability with other team members within the group.
- Data Analyst may be asked to assist in other areas of SVC as required.
- Data Analyst works with Team Leaders, Managers and FMC staff as needed to successfully complete assigned projects/tasks and resolve department related problems.
