Description:

Apex Systems, a leading IT staffing and services firm, is seeking a Critical Environment Data Technician for a high-impact, on-site role in Woodbridge, ON. This position is for a major multinational technology corporation (one of the "Big Five Tech Giants") and offers exposure to advanced infrastructure systems within large-scale data centers. The role requires hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, and critical infrastructure systems including water and power supply equipment.

This is a 4-month contract position through the end of the fiscal year, with strong potential for extension or permanent conversion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain critical data center infrastructure including generators, CRAC units, and power distribution units (PDUs).

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems to ensure operational integrity.

  • Respond promptly to infrastructure incidents and emergencies to minimize downtime.

  • Use telemetry and monitoring systems to track performance and detect irregularities.

  • Work with external vendors and contractors for repairs, new installations, and routine servicing.

  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation for systems, maintenance procedures, and incidents.

  • Adhere strictly to safety standards and environmental compliance requirements.

  • Assist with internal and external audits and inspections related to data center operations.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation and be available for work during non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in a technical or engineering role (e.g., automotive, electrical systems, industrial controls, or data center environments).

  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in critical or high-availability settings.

  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms.

  • Basic knowledge of networking and server hardware environments.

  • Experience with generator systems, water supply infrastructure, and power systems in mission-critical settings.

  • CSA Z462 Certification is a plus but not mandatory.
