Customs Specialist

Description:

A global trading company is seeking a Customs Specialist for an 18-month hybrid contract role based near Barrie, Ontario. This opportunity allows you to join a dynamic and experienced team while working in a pivotal compliance function. The role focuses on preparing customs clearance entries and ensuring due diligence with all customs regulations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare customs clearance entries accurately and timely

• Ensure strict compliance with CBSA regulations

• Apply due diligence in handling documentation

• Resolve customs-related issues proactively

• Support documentation processes including:

  • Harmonized System (HS) codes

  • Commercial invoices

  • Certificates of origin

  • Insurance documentation

  • Letters of credit

Key Requirements:

• Completion of the CBSA Customs Broker Exam (Qualified Officer status)

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customs processing

• Detail-oriented and able to meet tight deadlines

• Experience with international trade documents (assets)
