Description:
As Curator, you should have extensive knowledge of Alberta’s labour history, including paid and unpaid work, manufacturing, industry, resource development, trade, technology, retail and labour organizations. You will supervise one direct report.
Your primary focus is to develop collections, contribute to public galleries, and undertake public outreach, education and communication, taking into account the interests of stakeholders and the public, and mindful of the diversity of Alberta’s labour history. This work requires you to have excellent research skills, experience with material culture, a strong publication record, and a wide professional network.
Your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (such as labour, industry, employment history, museum studies) with 1-3 years’ experience in a cultural institution
Equivalency: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a cultural institution
