Courseware Developer - Master of Healthcare Management

Location: Niagara Falls, Ontario

Reports To: Director, Centre for Teaching Excellence & Associate Dean

Primary Purpose

The University of Niagara Falls Canada is in search of a versatile and experienced Courseware developer for our new Master of Healthcare Management program. As a courseware developer you will report to the Director: Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and work closely with the developing CTE team, including the Senior Instructional Designer, and other academic and administrative units across the UNF community, in the development of interactive and research-grounded multimedia educational elements in UNF courses and programs. The collaborative nature of this work necessitates that the courseware developer must have excellent soft skills to work effectively on project teams to support course and program development. Coupled with these collaborative skills, the courseware developer will bring with them the ability to use their knowledge to innovate, work independently on multiple projects at one time, and lead the CTE team in its development of best practice multimedia development and data gathering strategies to support the advancement of UNF and its technologically grounded programs. They will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical issues and be proactive in their approach to identifying and addressing potential challenges.

Specific Responsibilities

General Duties
 

  • Design, develop, and update graduate-level courseware aligned with the learning outcomes of the Master of Healthcare Management program.
  • Translate faculty-provided content, learning objectives, and assessment strategies into structured, engaging, and academically rigorous online course materials.
  • Develop course components including modules, lessons, case studies, applied activities, assessments, and learning resources relevant to healthcare management practice.
  • Support the development of courses covering healthcare systems, health policy, healthcare organizations, leadership, human resources management, health economics, financing, governance, quality, and performance.
  • Design and develop interactive learning activities, simulations, and assessments that support applied learning and professional skill development.
  • Utilize eLearning authoring tools and LMS functionality to build multimedia-rich and learner-centred content.
  • Integrate multimedia elements such as graphics, videos, and interactive components to enhance learner engagement and comprehension.
  • Manage multiple courseware development projects concurrently, ensuring timelines, milestones, and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, academic integrity, accessibility, and alignment with program standards.
  • Develop project plans, track progress, and communicate updates to academic and CTE stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty and academic leadership to ensure courseware reflects current healthcare practices, policy contexts, and industry expectations.
  • Participate in planning and review meetings, providing recommendations on instructional strategies and course design improvements.
  • Apply evidence-based instructional design practices and continuous improvement approaches to enhance the learner experience.
  • Ensure courseware is responsive, functional, and compatible across devices and platforms.
  • Ensure all course materials comply with accessibility standards and institutional guidelines within the LMS.
     

Technical Skills
 

  • Experience working within a Learning Management System, preferably D2L Brightspace.
  • Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools used to create interactive and multimedia-rich course content.
  • Working knowledge of web-based content development using HTML and CSS.
  • Ability to integrate multimedia, interactive elements, and third-party educational tools into courseware as required.
  • Understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility requirements in online learning environments.
  • Familiarity with basic JavaScript or interactive content development is considered an asset.
