Description:
Reporting to the Manager, HR Employee Services, the Compensation Advisor provides timely and accurate compensation and benefits services to Library of Parliament employees. The role advises employees and managers, processes pay and benefits transactions, applies complex collective agreements and policies, and ensures the integrity of data in the Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) .
The incumbent performs the following duties:
- Administers and validates pay, benefits, and employment transactions for term and indeterminate employees.
- Provides clear advice to employees and managers on compensation, benefits, deductions, and related policies.
- Applies collective agreements, legislation, and compensation directives to support accurate decision‑making.
- Maintains and updates employee information in ERP and prepare reports for HR leadership.
- Identifies issues and recommends improvements to compensation processes and practices.
Qualifications
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a specialization in a field relevant to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience
Experience:
- Experience providing payroll and/or benefits administration services
- Experience working with an HR or pay system
- Experience responding to enquiries from the public and internal stakeholders
- Experience using an HR information management system
- Experience using MS Office applications, including MS Word, and preparing reports using MS Excel
Knowledge:
- General knowledge of core HR functions, such as classification, staffing, labour relations and compensation

Asset Criteria:
- Education/Training in Human Resources.
- Experience with the Phoenix pay system.
- Knowledge of Payroll administration.
Operational Requirements:
- Some overtime may be required.
