The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Health Nurse to join its team in Klemtu, British Columbia. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in an innovative, culturally grounded, and community-centered health organization that is the first of its kind in Canada. FNHA serves as a wellness partner to BC First Nations, supporting self-determination in health governance and delivery.
The Community Health Nurse will provide a comprehensive range of nursing services, including community/public health, primary care, and home care. The nurse will work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and will play a pivotal role in supporting the health and wellness of the Klemtu community.
This role goes beyond clinical care to address health promotion, disease prevention, population health protection, and curative, rehabilitative, and palliative care, all while operating within a culturally respectful framework.
Deliver primary, preventive, and supportive care services to individuals, families, and groups
Implement culturally safe nursing practices grounded in First Nations principles and values
Conduct community health assessments, plan and implement health promotion initiatives
Provide public health education, maternal-child care, chronic disease management, and mental health support
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and community partners for coordinated care
Maintain clinical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Promote cultural safety and humility in all interactions
Base Salary: CAD 94,724 to CAD 114,261 annually (pro-rated for part-time)
Recruitment Allowance: Up to CAD 16,500
Retention Allowance: Up to CAD 16,500
Education Allowance: Up to CAD 3,850
Health Spending Account: CAD 1,100 annually
Weather-Protective Clothing Allowance: Reimbursement up to CAD 1,200

Pension: Robust municipal pension plan (9.31% employer contribution post-eligibility)
FNHA supports nurses pursuing Remote Nursing Certification (RNC) by providing paid training, travel, and salary while completing certification.
