Description:

The Salvation Army in Canada, a trusted community service and faith-based organization serving over 2 million people annually, is seeking a skilled Communications Specialist to join its national communications team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in internal communications, employee engagement, and organizational change initiatives.

As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for creating, coordinating, and executing impactful communication strategies and campaigns across multiple platforms. You will play a vital role in translating complex information into clear, concise, and engaging messages that resonate with diverse audiences, while also producing visually compelling materials such as high-quality PowerPoint presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute internal communications strategies aligned with organizational goals and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Craft impactful, audience-specific messaging across digital and print channels.

  • Collaborate with functional teams, IT, and business units to meet communication needs.

  • Produce high-quality presentations and materials, simplifying complex concepts into engaging content.

  • Manage SharePoint intranet portals and oversee organization-wide communications.

  • Lead creative direction by coordinating with designers, media teams, and photographers.

  • Plan and execute campaigns, analyze performance, and recommend improvements.

  • Contribute to strategic planning, risk identification, and progress reporting.

  • Ensure consistency in branding, tone, and messaging across communication initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.

  • 3–5 years of corporate communications experience, preferably in business transformation or organizational change.

  • Strong expertise in internal communications, change management, and employee engagement.

  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to translate technical/complex information into easy-to-understand content.

  • Advanced PowerPoint and presentation design skills.

  • Proficiency in SharePoint intranet management and design tools (InDesign, Adobe Illustrator).

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

  • High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $5,569 – $6,961 monthly (up to $8,353 maximum).

  • Placement based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
