Communications And Committee Coordinator

 

Description:

  • Provide legislative support and act as the secretary to the Heritage Committee and the Recreation Committee.
  • Schedule and attend all Advisory Committee meetings, make presentations, recommendations, respond to inquiries and provide professional advice as required.
  • Prepare and distribute committee agendas and minutes, ensure Council and Committee meeting videos and minutes are uploaded to the Township website and YouTube account, and prepare Council reports as required.
  • Receive and issue Special Event permits, coordinate special events on behalf of the Township, and administer the Township’s lottery licensing program.
  • Coordinate all Township job postings on the Township website and other approved advertising platforms (Newspaper, social media, AMCTO, etc.)
  • Liaise with various departments to develop and manage permit applications, forms and guidelines on the corporate website.
  • Draft and edit news releases, web content, social media messages and a variety of other communications materials for the various departments.
  • Liaise with Township departments to develop the annual calendar of Township key dates and events.
  • Coordinate the Township website (page and menu creation/updates, public notices, Council calendar, main page banner, subscribers, etc.)
  • Coordinate the Township's social media program.
  • Coordinate approved Engage Puslinch projects through consultation with Township departments and the Corporate Work Plan.
  • Assists with the Municipal Election.
  • Maintains and updates the Township’s Emergency Response Plan and is a scribe for the Emergency Response Plan Committee.
  • Act as a Commissioner of Oaths for Planning Act applications.
  • Provide back up to the Legislative Assistant as required.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in communications, public relations or related discipline and experience in public relations, promotions, or digital marketing. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ related and demonstrated municipal experience, with one (1) year of experience at a supervisory level considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database applications, Adobe, video and photo editing tools, Canva, Hootsuite, and various web software.
