What will you do?
- Lead, develop and implement communications strategies, and marketing and public education campaigns for external and internal audiences
- Identify emerging issues and provide timely advice and effective strategies in response to those issues
- Liaise with other orders of government, community and other interested and impacted parties when appropriate
- Lead media relations, organize media events, develop media strategies, pitch stories to media, lead the development of responses to media inquiries, coach spokespeople and sometimes serve as a spokesperson
- Support Council processes (Council reports, preparation for committee and council meetings)Develop and implement creative and engaging social media strategies and content to advance department goals and enhance communication efforts
- Provide communications support to public engagement initiatives
- Write news releases, public service announcements, media advisories, brochures, newsletters and other communication products
- Edit, develop and update web and 311 content for programs, projects and initiatives
- Work with clients, designers, printers, vendors and marketing agencies to create effective communications and advertising products
- Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized University degree in communications, public relations or related discipline
- A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate communications and public relations
OR
- Completion of a post secondary diploma in communications, public relations or related discipline
- A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in a corporate communications and public relations
Assets:
- Experience with photo/video editing/posting software
- Experience working in the public sector or a large complex organisation
- Membership in IABC, CPRS or other related professional association
