Commodity Manager

Description:

Siemens Healthineers, a global leader in medical technology, is seeking an experienced Commodity Manager to join their Reagent Team in Ottawa, ON. This role involves leading a team of Commodity Management professionals and managing the total Purchasing Volume (PVO) for assigned commodities with a focus on material pooling and strategic procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement organizational strategies to identify areas for cost rationalization and increased profitability.

• Manage resources, ensure competence development, and align procurement processes with Siemens’ strategic goals.

• Execute demand pooling, supplier management, and negotiations to optimize operating profit and material sourcing.

• Drive technical and sustainable cost/value optimization initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams including R&D, SCM, PLM, and Procurement.

• Scout and develop new suppliers while managing risks, opportunities, and market forces.

• Actively participate in product development processes to implement cost reduction measures such as design-to-cost, target costing, and standardization.

• Negotiate frame contracts and manage supplier relationships to ensure transparency and early integration.

• Coordinate global and cross-business sourcing activities to achieve maximum material productivity.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related technical field.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement, preferably in the Chemical, Biological, or In-Vitro Diagnostic industry.

• Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.

• Advanced technical skills to evaluate supplier innovations and solve complex procurement challenges.

• Global mindset with strong networking and supplier development capabilities.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%, including internationally.
