Description:
The Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids), one of the world’s leading pediatric healthcare institutions, is seeking a PhD-level Clinical Psychologist to join its Eating Disorders Program (EDP). The EDP provides an integrated model of care offering inpatient, day treatment, and outpatient services, combining medical stabilization with mental health interventions for children, youth, and their families.
The Psychologist will play a critical role in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapy for young patients with eating disorders, ensuring evidence-based, family-inclusive, and culturally sensitive care. The role requires both on-site and virtual service delivery, in close collaboration with a large interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct psychological assessments, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatments for children and adolescents with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Provide specialized clinical formulations to support treatment planning and prioritization of psychological needs.
Deliver therapies including Family-Based Treatment (FBT), Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
Support and educate patients and families during treatment, discharge, and transition processes.
Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, and allied health professionals in multidisciplinary meetings and care planning.
Provide clinical supervision and teaching for psychology trainees, residents, and fellows.
Contribute to program evaluation, planning, and improvement initiatives.
Participate in departmental and program-specific committees and initiatives.
Requirements:
PhD in Clinical or Health Psychology (CPA/APA-accredited), with pediatric/developmental focus.
Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (autonomous practice or supervised practice considered).
Minimum 2 years of pediatric psychology experience; prior eating disorder treatment experience preferred.
Expertise in evidence-based interventions (FBT, CBT-E, DBT, EFFT).
Strong skills in family engagement, trauma-informed and culturally competent care.
Experience with measurement-based care, clinical supervision, and research methodology is an asset.
Excellent assessment, diagnostic, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with digital platforms (Microsoft Office, hospital documentation systems, virtual care).
Flexibility to work onsite with occasional virtual service delivery.
Employment Type:
Full-Time Temporary Contract (1 year), 0.2–0.8 FTE (part-time considered).
