Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s Odette Cancer Centre is offering an exciting part-time contract opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join their Patient & Family Support Program. This position is particularly suited for early career psychologists or individuals seeking supervised practice and registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

The psychologist will work two days per week, either remotely or in a hybrid setup, supporting patients and families affected by cancer. The primary role includes delivering individual psychological intervention, conducting psycho-diagnostic assessments, and contributing to collaborative care planning with an interdisciplinary team.

The position offers an enriching opportunity to gain meaningful clinical experience in oncology and health psychology, with possibilities to lead group therapy programs and participate in clinical team discussions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based individual therapy to cancer patients and their families

  • Develop and implement tailored treatment plans through clinical assessment and psychodiagnostics

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, dieticians, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and medical staff

  • Participate in case conferences and interdisciplinary meetings

  • Option to lead or support thematic group therapy sessions or specialized programming


Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited program

  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with the CPBAO

  • Competency in health or rehabilitation psychology, especially in oncology or medical settings

  • Skilled in psychotherapy approaches including CBT, ACT, EFT, MBSR, and trauma-focused models

  • Experience with grief, bereavement, adjustment, and trauma counselling is a strong asset


Working Conditions:

  • Contract-based part-time role, beginning in August, with full two-day capacity expected by September

  • Flexible structure: may be conducted remotely or hybrid

  • Annual workload not to exceed 180 hours

  • Potential for contract renewal based on performance and fit


Compensation:

  • Compensation based on experience and supervision needs

  • Subcontracted role, reviewed annually

  • Exact remuneration will be discussed during the interview process
