Claims Administrator

 

Description:

People Corporation is hiring a Claims Administrator (Term) for its McAteer Division in Markham, Ontario. This is a fixed-term, full-time position lasting until the end of September 2025. The role is integral in managing claims processing, providing support to plan members, and ensuring claims are handled in accordance with plan guidelines and timelines.

The selected candidate will report to the Benefits Administration Manager and act as the initial point of contact for inquiries related to claim statuses and benefit coverage. The role demands an organized and detail-oriented individual capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, review, and submit claims to adjudication providers with accuracy and timeliness

  • Address unusual or complex claim cases and escalate as needed

  • Investigate and report issues related to claims adjudication

  • Maintain and update claims manuals regularly

  • Communicate with plan participants, insurance providers, union representatives, and internal stakeholders via phone, email, or in person

  • Apply benefit guidelines, verify eligibility, and identify inconsistencies or discrepancies

  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the Benefits Administration Manager

Internal & External Communication:

  • Collaborate with various departments and supervisors internally

  • Communicate directly with plan members, dependents, beneficiaries, and consultants

  • Liaise with insurance companies and union reps regarding claims

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of administrative experience, ideally in a claims or benefits setting

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Familiarity with benefit plan guidelines, policy provisions, and the Insurance Act

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

  • High attention to detail and strong work ethic

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and cases concurrently

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Strong numerical skills for accurate computation and data analysis
