Description:
gbi, a leading innovative engineering firm, is seeking a Railway Engineer to join its technical team in Montreal, QC. The role involves contributing to challenging and large-scale transport infrastructure projects, particularly within the railway sector. Reporting to the Director, Transport, the candidate will leverage their expertise to support operations, project planning, design, and technical execution in railway engineering.
This is a hybrid role, allowing flexibility for remote and in-office work while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Conduct studies and design of railway infrastructures, including bridges, rail tracks, level crossings, and railway systems.
Perform engineering analyses, technical assessments, and preparation of design specifications.
Prepare, monitor, and verify construction plans for new projects or repair works on railway infrastructure.
Participate in project planning, scheduling, and management, including budget oversight in collaboration with the Director.
Identify, interpret, and apply industry standards and codes while ensuring compliance with contractual documents.
Coordinate with clients, prepare service proposals, and participate in client meetings.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and less experienced team members.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.
8+ years of experience in railway engineering (bridges, rail tracks, systems).
Strong knowledge of railway industry standards, including AREMA.
Proficient in French (oral and written).
Possession of ASP certification (general health and safety on construction sites).
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
