Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate and take on different roles as a designer working on various water resources projects.
- Prepare detailed design of storm drainage systems including minor and major drainage systems (ditches, culverts, and storm sewer systems), including sub-watershed delineation.
- Develop stormwater management strategy for highways, road widening, Land Development and Transit projects, including stormwater quality and quantity control.
- Prepare CAD drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation and Civil3D (InRoads is an asset).
- Coordinate within the design team and assist Project Managers with schedules and day-to-day project management tasks.
- Assist in developing project specifications, quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
- Ensures that the design complies with all applicable design standards and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of various proposals, technical reports or presentations.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends, software, and technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering with 0-2 years of experience.
- Interest to become a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. designation).
- Good knowledge of the industry-relevant software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, and/or Civil3D).
- Knowledge of HEC-RAS, Visual OttHYMO, Culvert Master
- Good knowledge of engineering principles, design standards and Jurisdictional Design Guidelines (e.g. OPSS/OPSD, TAC, MTO, City of Toronto, City of Mississauga, York Region, etc).
- Strategic and process-oriented, prefers to operate in a fast and dynamic environment.
- Team player and able to work independently with little oversight.
- Able to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and commendable problem-solving skills.
