Cipp Cutter Operator

 

Description:

Michels Canada is actively seeking a CIPP Cutter Operator to join its team based in Toronto, ON, with responsibilities across multiple job sites. The role is centered around trenchless rehabilitation and maintenance of sewer and stormwater lines using advanced Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) technologies.

The successful candidate will operate robotic cutters, conduct CCTV inspections, and assist in CIPP liner installations while working closely with crew members under the direction of the foreman. This is a unionized, full-time field-based position that demands flexibility to travel regularly. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct robotic cutting and CCTV inspections of wastewater and stormwater pipes

  • Support CIPP liner installations and robotic lateral reinstatements

  • Setup and maintain CIPP and CCTV equipment

  • Perform job site preparation, line installation, and clean-up

  • Identify and address workplace safety risks and ensure compliance with safety policies, SDS, and procedures

  • Work in outdoor environments under all weather conditions

  • Collaborate with the crew and maintain a culture of teamwork and accountability

  • Assist with driving and operating boiler truck/tractor-trailer

  • Perform additional related tasks as required by the foreman


Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience with robotic cutting tools: POSM, CUES Kangaroo, Trytek, or Schwalm Cutters

  • Skilled in reading maintenance instructions, safety procedures, and installation manuals

  • Able to conduct physically strenuous tasks and work in confined spaces

  • Knowledge of CIPP lining, construction safety, and confined space entry

  • Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions on-site

  • Competent in basic math (adding, subtracting, fractions, decimals)

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly as required


Preferred Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Confined Space Entry Certification

  • WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)

  • Fall Protection

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Any additional site-specific or client-mandated training


Languages Required:

  • Must be able to communicate in English (spoken and written)
