Description:

The Salvation Army in Canada, a respected and long-standing organization dedicated to helping individuals and families in need for over 130 years, is currently hiring a Christmas Kettle Coordinator in Perth, Ontario. This role plays a key part in the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign, a vital initiative that raises funds to support community programs providing food, clothing, and other essentials to people across Canada.

As the Christmas Kettle Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing several kettle locations within a designated area, ensuring proper staffing, coordination, and smooth daily operations. The position requires hands-on leadership to support kettle workers and volunteers while upholding The Salvation Army’s values of hope, service, dignity, and stewardship.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, direct, and supervise daily operations of Christmas Kettle locations, including shopping malls, grocery stores, and retail outlets.

  • Recruit, schedule, and coordinate staff and volunteers for kettle shifts.

  • Deliver and collect kettles from various sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.

  • Provide on-site supervision, orientation, and support to kettle workers and volunteers.

  • Maintain accurate records, including timesheets, mileage reports, and statistical data.

  • Communicate daily with supervisors regarding staff updates, supply needs, and operational concerns.

  • Handle donor inquiries courteously and represent The Salvation Army positively in all interactions.

  • Ensure all collected donations are transported securely to the designated location.

  • Uphold The Salvation Army’s mission and ensure compliance with organizational and safety standards.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum high school education (completion preferred).

  • At least 1 year of related experience in customer service or administrative work.

  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License with personal vehicle and insurance.

  • Experience in handling cash and using office software (MS Word, Excel).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with diverse individuals.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for long periods.

  • Must successfully pass background and screening checks.

Working Conditions:

  • Duration: Temporary, short-term contract during the Christmas season.

  • Schedule: Days, evenings, weekends, and split shifts as required (Monday–Saturday).

  • Environment: Primarily on-site at retail and public locations; may involve cold weather exposure.

  • Travel: Local travel between kettle sites is required.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly rate between $17.60 – $20.64, with a maximum of $24.77 based on experience and qualifications.
